Coalition of agencies join in solidarity to honor transportation employees #HeroesMovingHeroes
CINCINNATI – Today, April 16 at 3 p.m. Metro will join transit systems across the county in conjunction with the American Public Transit Association (APTA) to “Sound the Horn” in recognition of the heroic actions of public transportation employees who continue performing critically essential work during COVID-19.

At 3 p.m. today all Metro buses in service will simultaneously sound two one-second horn blasts in solidarity with trains, buses and boats from around the country.

“This is a tribute to the many Metro operators, as well as operators across the country who are on the front lines serving our community everyday during this pandemic,” said Darryl Haley, Metro’s CEO & General Manager. “They are truly heroes to the thousands of other essential workers depending on them to get to jobs, or the grocery story or doctor appointments and to all of us in the community who depend on these essential workers.”

The community is invited to show their support for public transportation workers on social media using the #HeroesMovingHeroes and #SoundTheHorn.

Metro is a non-profit, tax-funded public service of the Southwest Ohio Regional Transit Authority, providing about 13.5 million rides per year.
