Metro & Access Offering Fare-Free Service During Hamilton County Level 2 Or Higher Winter Weather Emergencies
February 4, 2022
Free fare will offer relief to riders who must travel during the winter storm and help speed up the boarding process, which will help routes stay on schedule as much as road conditions safely allow.
CINCINNATI – Metro & Access service will continue to operate during the ice and snow storm that has descended on Hamilton County on Thursday, Feb. 3 and into Friday, Feb. 4. However, delays and detours are likely on many routes.
Service will also be free to riders while Hamilton County is under a level two or higher snow advisory, which Sheriff McGuffey announced Thursday afternoon. This will offer relief to riders who must travel during the winter storm and help speed up the boarding process, which will help routes stay on schedule as much as possible.
Riders are encouraged to follow a few tips to make riding Metro easier during winter weather days:
1. Cincy EZAlerts: Sign up for the free tool to get text or email alerts regarding delays, detours or service interruptions for the routes you ride.
2. Transit App with EZFARE: The free app allows you to plan your trip, pay your fare and track your bus in real-time.
3. Detour blog: Follow Metro’s detour page for details on route detours.
PLEASE REMEMBER: It is not always safe for Metro buses to navigate steep hills during the ice and snow. Please plan to board at the top or bottom of hills.
