Metro to Host MetroRapid Open Houses in May to Share Updates on Station Locations and Names

May 2, 2025

Metro is hosting four community open houses in May to share updates on the MetroRapid Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project, including proposed station locations and station names for the region’s first BRT corridors. These open houses build on strong community engagement and feedback that have guided the project so far. This next phase is about confirming what’s been heard and continuing to refine the plan with the community.

Attendees can drop-in during the open house hours and will be able to review maps of proposed station locations and names, station renderings, speak with project staff, and provide feedback.

“We’re excited to share the progress on MetroRapid and give our community a closer look at how this project will improve mobility, access, safety, and connectivity across the region,” said Brandy Jones, Metro’s Chief Communications and Marketing Officer. “Hearing from the community remains essential as we progress on design details and ensure the project reflects the needs of those it will serve.”

About Bus Rapid Transit

BRT is a high-quality, bus-based travel option that combines the fast and efficient characteristics of rail transit with the flexibility of traditional bus service. BRT will bring a faster-than-ever public transportation option to Metro riders traveling between points along Hamilton Avenue and Reading Road.

BRT systems improve travel times through the use of frequent service, limited bus stops, smart traffic signals, and dedicated bus lanes where possible. Enhanced bus stops/stations offering same-level entry improve accessibility for all riders while paid-in-advance fare systems reduce wait times when boarding vehicles. BRT systems support economic growth by encouraging equitable transit-oriented development around BRT stations and stops. As with all of Metro’s services, the use of BRT will help reduce local congestion and vehicle emissions which improves local air quality and reduces noise levels.
