Metro To Distribute Free Facial Masks To Customers On Government Square

June 14, 2020

Have a mask on us (and wear it on the bus!)
CINCINNATI- Metro is encouraging customers to wear masks while riding as a preventable measure to protect themselves and others from COVID-19.

To help with this effort, Metro will be distributing masks free to any customer who needs one on Government Square on the following dates and times:

– Wednesday, June 24, 1-3 p.m.
– Friday, June 26, 2-4 p.m.
– Monday, June 29, 7-9 a.m.

There will be a two masks per person limit.

“As Metro prepares to return to full service on June 28, it’s important that we reinforce the importance of practicing preventative and safety measures so that everyone feels comfortable riding the bus,” said Brandy Jones, Vice President of External Affairs.

For the health and safety of all, we ask riders to observe the following:

– Wear a mask, scarf or other facial covering while riding.
– Pay fare using Transit App with EZFare for contactless payment. (Cash fare still accepted.)
– Stand behind the plexi-glass barrier at the fare box.
– Spread out as much as possible onboard.
– Observe CDC safety guidelines including using hand sanitizer, washing hands regularly for at least 20 seconds, and covering coughs and sneezes with a tissue.

Here’s how Metro is keeping you safe:

– Conducting rigorous daily cleaning of all buses.
– Applying a chlorinated, sanitizing disinfectant that kills the coronavirus to all buses, including poles, stanchions and seats, and all facilities, including Government Square.
– Using an electrostatic sprayer which helps the disinfectant stick to surfaces.
– Installed plexi-glass barriers on all buses as an added layer of protection between customers and operators at the fare box.

Metro is a non-profit, tax-funded public service of the Southwest Ohio Regional Transit Authority, providing about 13.5 million rides per year.
