Metro Extends Hiring Bonus For New Bus Operators

Metro Offering $1,000 New Operator Bonus Through June 30

CINCINNATI – Metro aims to hire at least 24 new transit operators in the coming weeks to support Reinventing Metro service improvements taking effect May 30. New operators hired before June 30 will be eligible to receive up to a $1,000 hiring bonus upon the successful completion of their trial trip and probationary period. 

Metro bus operators enjoy paid training, competitive pay and benefits. Applicants do not need a commercial driver’s license (CDL) to apply. Qualified applicants will receive Metro training to acquire their CDL along with reimbursement for CDL fees. 

Metro bus operator pay begins at $16 per hour for trainees, with the potential to earn top operator pay of more than $27 per hour within five years. Metro also provides comprehensive health and dental benefits, retirement benefits and free transportation passes for a spouse and dependents.

Bus Operator Virtual Career Fair – Saturday, May 22 

Metro is hosting a virtual career fair on Saturday, May 22, for new bus operators. There will be a morning (10 – 11:30 a.m.) and an afternoon (1 – 2:30 p.m.) session. 

Those interested in participating must first submit an application online at go-metro.com/careers. All candidates who meet the minimum qualifications will receive an invitation with instructions on how to join the virtual meeting. All participants will be interviewed, and qualified candidates will receive a job offer that day.
