Metro Partners with The Cincy Hat to Champion Independence and Inclusion Through Transportation

October 27, 2026

Metro is partnering with The Cincy Hat, founded by Ted Karras, to introduce a Metro-branded hat that celebrates a shared commitment to helping people with disabilities live independently and participate fully in their communities.

The partnership brings together Metro’s work connecting people to everyday opportunities and The Cincy Hat’s support for housing, education and services for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Through Metro’s Access paratransit service, nearly 200,000 rides are provided annually for individuals whose disabilities prevent them from riding Metro buses. Access helps eligible customers connect to work, medical appointments, shopping, and other everyday destinations.

“Independence includes being able to get where you need to go and take part in the life of your community,” said Brandy Jones, Metro’s Chief Communications and Marketing Officer. “Our Access team helps make those connections possible every day. Partnering with Ted and The Cincy Hat is a meaningful way to celebrate that work and support our shared commitment to people with disabilities.”

The Cincy Hat raises funds to support adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities through The Cincy Hat Foundation, including efforts to expand housing and educational opportunities.

“Transportation, housing and education all play a role in helping people build independent, fulfilling lives,” said Ted Karras, founder of The Cincy Hat. “Metro puts that mission into action every day, and we’re proud to partner with them to bring more attention to the opportunities the IDD community deserves.”

The partnership also has a personal connection to Metro. Employee Wayne Strunk volunteers his time helping design Cincy hats, contributing his creativity to the organization’s mission.

Metro Access team members will be permitted to wear the Metro-branded Cincy hats as part of their uniforms, giving employees another way to show their support while serving customers.
