The Metro Board of Trustees is pleased to announce the swearing in of Rickell Howard Smith as a new member.

Howard Smith is a respected civil rights attorney and nonprofit leader who currently serves as President & CEO of YWCA Greater Cincinnati, where she champions initiatives that advance racial justice, women’s rights, and opportunities for historically excluded communities. A proud Cincinnati native, she previously led racial equity efforts at the Greater Cincinnati Foundation and was the inaugural executive director of the Urban League’s Holloman Center for Social Justice.

“Rickell’s career is a testament to her commitment to community,” said Blake Ethridge, Chair of the Metro Board of Trustees. “Her experience tackling systemic issues and empowering people will bring valuable insight to Metro as we continue building a transit system that connects all residents to opportunity.”

The Metro Board, comprised of 16 dedicated volunteers, plays a vital role in overseeing the operations and strategic direction of the transit agency. Eleven members are appointed by Hamilton County, while the remaining five are appointed by the city of Cincinnati. Three of Hamilton County’s appointees serve as non-voting members, representing Butler, Clermont, and Warren counties.
