METRO RECOGNIZED WITH NATIONAL AD AWARD

Metro’s Communications Department was recognized last week at by the American Public Transit Association during its annual AdWheel Awards, honoring successful marketing campaigns implemented by transit systems across North America.
Metro’s Communications Department was recognized last week at by the American Public Transit Association during its annual AdWheel Awards, honoring successful marketing campaigns implemented by transit systems across North America.

Metro was awarded first place in the “Best Print Media to Increase Ridership” category for its “You Should Be Riding This Bus” campaign. The campaign, which began in 2019 and is ongoing, aims to encourage people to give riding the bus a try by emphasizing the benefits of choosing to commute to work, school and other destinations via bus rather than by driving. The campaign featured activities like playing games, catching up on work and even just catching up on some much-needed rest as things made possible during your commute when you choose to take the bus rather than drive.

"It was a great honor to receive this recognition,” said Dave Etienne, Metro director of marketing. “With gas prices so low, our team wanted to highlight the other great reasons for taking the bus besides savings. As bus riders ourselves, we came up with some very creative and topical ways to show the benefits of public transit."
