App works with Metro, TANK and BCRTA for seamless regional travel
Plan. Pay. Track. It’s just that simple with the new EZFare feature in Transit App rolling out Oct. 23 to serve Metro, Transit Authority of Northern Kentucky (TANK) and Butler County Regional Transit Authority (BCRTA) riders.
The agencies have partnered with Transit App – the leader in real-time transit tracking and Masabi, which specializes in mobile ticketing to create the new EZFare feature within the Transit App, making it a one-stop shop for transit users across the region. Transit App
with EZFare allows riders to:
•Plan their trip across three transit systems
•Pay their fare using their smartphone – no need for exact change
•Purchase tickets and store them for future use
•Track their bus in real-time
•Purchase the new $5 Metro/TANK day pass
, which allows for unlimited rides all day across both transit systems
The Transit App is free and available on iOS and Android smart phones. The new app will replace Metro’s existing Cincy EZRide App, which will stop selling Metro tickets on Oct. 23. Riders with tickets in their Cincy EZRide wallets after Oct. 23, will have until June 30, 2020 to use those tickets.

“This new all-in-one app makes riding Metro, TANK and BCRTA easier than ever,” said Darryl Haley, Metro’s Interim CEO. “It’s just one of the many ways we’re working to reinvent Metro to better serve our customers by providing rider-requested amenities that enhance our service and takes the guess work, such as ‘what bus do I catch, how much is fare and when is my bus coming?’ out of using transit.”
“With the launch of the regional app, we’ve also launched a new pass to make regional travel between TANK and Metro easier and more affordable. A $5 Metro/TANK Day pass is now available on the app, valid for travel on any TANK route and within Metro Zone 1,” said Andrew Aiello, TANK General Manager. “This new pass is something our customers have been asking for and we’re excited to be able to introduce it on the new mobile platform.”
“This app creates new opportunities for better regional mobility. We’re excited to be a part of the project and look forward to being able to offer passengers better, easier and more convenient payment options.”Launch Celebration
Metro, TANK and BCRTA will host an app launch celebration on Oct. 23 on Government Square with app demonstrations, giveaways, prizes and free food for customers. Activities will take place between 6:30-8:30 a.m., 11 a.m.-1 p.m. and 3:30-5:30 p.m. Customers who download the Transit App and purchase a pass of any amount between Oct. 23-25 will receive a free $5 Metro/TANK Day Pass in their app wallet.About EZFARE
