Metro will join systems across the country to encourage people to support transit.
In celebration of “Get on Board Day,” Thursday, April 25, Metro, along with the American Public Transportation Association and transit systems around the country, is thanking riders and encouraging people to “get on board” for transit.

The day aims to generate awareness of and increase support for public transportation among riders and non-riders, elected officials and stakeholders.

Transit benefits both those who ride the bus and those who do not. National statistics show that every $1 invested in public transportation generates $4 in economic returns and every $1 billion invested in public transportation supports and creates more than 50,000 jobs. Additionally, communities that invest in public transit reduce the nation’s carbon emissions by 37 million metric tons annually.

In Cincinnati, Metro will mark Get on Board Day by visiting riders at bus stops throughout the system, talking to them about why they ride and providing them with free ride passes.

For new riders or those considering giving the bus a try, Metro’s website offers complete information on using the bus, including using tools like the Cincy EZRide app and Transit App to plan, pay and track your bus in real-time.
