Kolar Design to develop logo and brand identity standards
CINCINNATI – The new logo and branding standards for the Cincinnati Streetcar will be developed by Cincinnati-based Kolar Design.
Using the vehicle design and color palette already finalized by the City of Cincinnati, Kolar will develop a logo and guidelines for applying the brand identity on vehicles, signs, stations, operators’ uniforms, website, and printed materials. The goal is to unveil the new logo in the fall.
Kolar is certified as an Ohio DBE and WBE and City of Cincinnati SBE. Kolar’s sub-contractor, Calori & Vanden-Eynden (C&VE), has international experience in environmental graphic design and wayfinding for transit.
The cost for the streetcar branding work is being paid by Federal funds dedicated to the Cincinnati Streetcar, not Metro’s operating budget. This work is part of the development of the project and is within budget.
The streetcar branding Request for Proposal (RFP) process generated more interest than any other procurement in Metro history. More than 100 agencies requested RFP packets; 18 local and out-of-state agencies submitted proposals. A team composed of City of Cincinnati and Metro representatives reviewed all proposals and interviewed the top four proposers before selecting Kolar.
The Cincinnati Streetcar is owned by the City of Cincinnati and will be operated by Metro. Service to the public begins in September 2016.
