Metro Renumbers Five Routes, Changes Other Schedules To Improve Service

CINCINNATI –Metro's summer service change on Sunday, May 29, includes renumbering five routes, Rts. 18, 45, 47, 69, 72, and making minor schedule changes for other routes to better reflect actual running times.

Changes for the renumbered routes include:

Additionally, Rt. 12X, formerly part of the Rt. 11 schedule, will now have its own schedule: Rt. 12X Madisonville Express.

These routes have the same service, just new names and/or numbers. There is no reduction in service or routing changes. The route number changes are being made so Metro can offer a new trip planner through Google Transit and other customer information improvements in the future.

IMPORTANT: Riders on a renumbered route who have signed up for Metro's Commuter Alerts will need to re-subscribe after May 29, 2011, at http://www.go-metro.com/commuter.html to continue to receive correct detour information.

Other routes with new schedules (for minor running time adjustments) starting on May 29, 2011, include:

Rt. 71 – Kings Island Job Connection/Kings Island Direct will have additional seasonal service added to provide access to jobs at Kings Island. The fare on Rt. 71 Kings Island Job connection/Kings Island Direct only will also be reduced to $2.25 each way through Oct. 30, 2011, thanks to federal Job Access Reverse Commute grant funding competitively awarded through the Ohio-Kentucky-Indiana Regional Council of Governments (OKI).

New bus schedules are now available on www.go-metro.com . New bus schedules will soon be available in the Mercantile Building,120 E. Fourth Street, across from the Government Square transit hub, on weekdays, 7:30 a.m. - 5 p.m.

Metro representatives will be at the Government Square Transit Center on Friday, May 27, from 7:30 a.m. to 9 a.m., distributing new schedules to riders and answering questions. For additional information, call Metro at 621-4455, weekdays 6:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Metro is a non-profit, tax-funded public service of the Southwest Ohio Regional Transit Authority, providing about 17 million rides per year .
