CINCINNATI – Metro’s Rt.1 connects arts and cultural organizations like a string of pearls from Museum Center through downtown and Mt. Adams to the zoo. Now, passengers can also enjoy fine art en route, thanks to a collaboration between Metro and the Taft Museum of Art.
As part of the Taft Museum’s Art for All program, Metro is featuring a framed reproduction of Pierre Courtey’s Portrait de Pierre de Ronsard on a Rt. 1 bus. This replica is one of 80 public art reproductions to appear throughout Greater Cincinnati from June to September.
The 16” x 12” painting portrays a French diplomat who turned to poetry after losing his hearing. The original painting, circa 1550, is on display at the Taft Museum. The bus featuring the artwork, #1004, is one of four 30-foot hybrid buses on Metro’s Rt. 1. The Taft Museum is one of the many attractions along Rt. 1; visit www.go-metro.com for the route schedule.
Art for All: Art for All celebrates the 80th anniversary of the Taft Museum of Art by bringing 80 reproductions of pieces from its collection to various public and open-air spaces in the Cincinnati community. Other pieces of art can be found at locations including Cincinnati Zoo and Botanical Garden, Devou Park, and the Cincinnati and the Northern Kentucky International Airport.
