Metro Ramping Up Paratransit, On-Demand Operator Recruitment with Series of Career Fairs

Access operators provide on-demand, ride-share service for people whose disabilities prevent them from using Metro’s fixed-route service. MetroNow! will provide on-demand ride-share service for any customer traveling within MetroNow!’s two pilot zones in the Northgate and Springdale areas, beginning this spring.
CINCINNATI – As Metro continues vigilantly to recruit and retain operators across its entire service fleet, the transit agency will hold a series of upcoming career fairs geared specifically toward boosting our team of Access paratransit and upcoming MetroNow! on-demand service operators.

There’s never been a better time to come onboard as an Access operator, now that Metro and the Amalgamated Transit Union Local 627 last year struck a new agreement, guaranteeing better pay, benefits and work-life balance than any time in the agency’s 50-year history.

Access/MetroNow! operators will enjoy the following benefits:

- After paid training, first-year Access operators earn $17.54/hour. The hourly wage increases to $19.43 after one year of employment.
- $1,500 signing bonus upon completion of training and 95-day probationary period
- Comprehensive, competitive health and dental benefits
- Retirement benefits (with a 14% match paid by Metro into the state pension system)
- Opportunities for advancement
- Free transit passes for spouses and dependents

Interested applicants will have the opportunity to fill out an application, sit for an interview, and meet with current staff. Unlike Metro’s fixed-route operators, earning a commercial driver’s license (CDL) is not required to operate these smaller vehicles.
