Metro's Summer Service Improvements: New Amazon Job Connection, More Frequent Arrivals & Improved Holiday Schedules

Service improvements - including more buses running more often for longer stretches of the day on four major routes, new service to Amazon's River Road facility and improved holiday schedules - will take effect Sunday, May 29.
CINCINNATI – In addition to multiple routes that will see minor schedule changes as part of Metro’s routine summer service improvements, four routes will increase frequency and span, meaning more buses more often, in addition to running for longer stretches of the day. Improvements also include new service that will reach 1,000 jobs at Amazon’s facility on River Road. Holiday service will also get a boost as part of these changes, scheduled to take effect Sunday, May 29.

More Buses Running Longer Hours
More frequent service:
  • Rt. 6 Queen City
  • Rt. 19 Colerain Ave-Northgate
  • Rt. 28 East End-Madisonville
  • Rt. 46 Avondale-Winton Hills
Both Rts. 6 and 19 also will have longer weekday service hours. With more buses serving Rt. 46, this improvement also means all buses will run the route’s entire length – from Government Square to Winton Terrace – with a bus arriving every 25 minutes.

New Service to Amazon River Road Facility
In an effort to improve access to jobs throughout the county, improvements also include enhanced service to Amazon's facility on River Road in Sedamsville, with two to three drop-offs/pick-ups per day, seven days a week.

This enhancement will provide greater connection to roughly 1,000 jobs, including hundreds of third-shift positions.

Holiday Service
Recognizing that not all holidays mean a day off work in numerous industries that rely on public transit, Metro is reinventing how we approach holiday bus service. Beginning Memorial Day, multiple holidays will operate more robust Saturday/holiday schedules, rather than Sunday/holiday service.

Other holidays operating Saturday/holiday service in 2022 are Independence Day and Labor Day.

Minor Schedule Changes
Other routes seeing minor schedule adjustments include: Rts. 4, 11, 15, 17, 24, 30, 31, 32, 33, 37, 41, 51, 64, 72 and 81.

These service adjustments are a part of Metro’s ongoing efforts to adjust our fixed-route bus service to the evolving needs of the communities we serve and to ensure that service remains as consistent and reliable as possible. These adjustments are especially critical as Metro continues to address the ongoing labor shortage, initiated by the COVID-19 pandemic, without making cuts to service.
