Coronavirus Info (COVID-19):
Metro staff is taking the necessary actions to help prevent the potential spread of the coronavirus. We monitor coronavirus developments on a daily basis and receive frequent updates from local, state, and federal public health agencies and local jurisdictions.
Metro, along with all other transit systems, is taking guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the World Health Organization, and public health departments. Additionally, Metro is committed to providing the transit services our customers need to maintain their quality of life. However, we stand ready to make changes if the situation changes.
Metro has activated its Transit Emergency Operation team, which is meeting weekly to discuss developments and next steps. Metro does have Pandemic response plans in place should the need arise to implement it.

Daily Vehicle Cleanings:
In addition to our daily rigorous cleaning of our buses, we have begin utilizing a chlorinated, sanitizing disinfectant on our buses. This disinfectant, which is effective at killing the coronavirus, is applied to surfaces inside buses and facilities, including polls, stanchions, and seats, utilizing an electrostatic sprayer, which promotes surface adhesion of the disinfectant.
Metro has activated its Transit Emergency Operation team, which is meeting regularly to discuss developments and next steps. Metro does have Pandemic response plans in place.
Specifically, here is what Metro is doing:
- Conducting rigorous daily cleaning of all buses.
- Applying a chlorinated, sanitizing disinfectant that kills the coronavirus to all buses and surfaces inside buses and facilities, including poles, stanchions and seats.
- Using an electrostatic sprayer which promotes surface adhesion of the disinfectant. Providing hand sanitizing stations in all garages and offices for use by operators and maintenance employees and administrative employees, along with gloves and masks.
- Suspending all non-essential travel, conducting all meetings via teleconference and closing the administrative offices' lobby to walk-in customers.
- Practicing social distancing in all workplaces.
- Installed plexi-glass barriers on-board all buses as an added layer of protection for customers and operators at the farebox.
Temporary Service Changes During COVID-19:

- Metro has installed Plexiglas barriers on buses to protect operators and customers. We ask that you remain behind the shield when paying your fare.
Tips for riders:
- Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash.
- Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
- Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth.
- Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds.
- If soap and water are not readily available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol.
- Stay home when you are sick.
- Customers are highly encouraged to wear non-surgical masks or other facial coverings while riding.
- Consider paying fare with the Transit app on your smartphone for contactless payment.
