All shelters are now open at Government Square after being closed for streetcar utility-related construction.

It’s official: all 750 of the $25 Cincinnati Streetcar “Founders’ Club” cards are sold out.  A limited number of $50 and $100 cards are still available.

Since last Tuesday, 1,001 Cincinnati Streetcar “Founders’ Club” cards have been sold, generating more than $42,000 in fare revenue for the streetcar.

At its 2014 State of Metro annual meeting today, Metro introduced its new CEO, announced a regional pass with TANK, released results from a study that shows how Metro stacks up against transit systems in peer cities, and highlighted its 2014 successes.

Beginning Monday, Dec. 15, Metro and the Transit Authority of Northern Kentucky (TANK) are introducing a new regional stored-value card that can be used on all Metro and TANK buses.

Metro has promoted Brandy Jones, APR, to Public Relations Manager.

The Southwest Ohio Regional Transit Authority board of trustees voted to approve the proposed Operating & Maintenance Agreement, which delineates the responsibilities of SORTA and the City of Cincinnati related to the operations of the Cincinnati Streetcar. 

Today, the City of Cincinnati introduced the new branding system for the Cincinnati Streetcar, which is slated to begin operation in September 2016.

Metro today received the results of a recent phone survey related to its go*Forward vision for transit in the region. The survey was conducted from Sept. 15-19 by Fallon Research & Communications, Inc. with responses from 503 Hamilton County residents. 

Ridership was up in September on two crosstown routes serving Metro’s Glenway Crossing Transit Center and park & ride. These east-west routes allow riders to connect to many other Metro routes and destinations without going downtown to transfer.

Metro provided 5% more rides on the Rt. 71 Kings Island Express last month compared to September 2013. In September 2014, the Rt. 71X provided almost 7,220 rides.

During National Safety Month in June, two Metro bus operators are receiving awards from the National Safety Council for driving two million miles each without an accident. 

This spring, the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) informed the Southwest Ohio Regional Transit Authority (SORTA) that $876,762 in rail-related grant funding awarded to SORTA in 1996 must be used soon or it would be forfeited.

Metro’s regular summer service changes will go into effect on June 1. Improvements include new service in Sharonville, reduced fare to Kings Island, service to the new Belterra Park on Kellogg Ave., and minor running time adjustments on some routes to better serve our customers.

Metro’s summer service change will make traveling in Springdale and Sharonville easier for bus riders, starting June 1.

On Memorial Day, Monday, May 26, Metro and Access will operate on a holiday schedule. Metro service will be detoured in downtown Cincinnati beginning at 6 p.m. on Friday, May 23, through early morning on Tuesday, May 27, due to Taste of Cincinnati.

To celebrate Bike to Work Day, bicycle commuters can ride free on Metro, the Transit Authority of Northern Kentucky (TANK) or Clermont Transportation Connection (CTC) on Friday, May 16, when they transport their bikes on the easy-to-use bus bike racks.

Metro has made history as the first mid-size transit system to receive top honors for both safety and security from the American Public Transportation Association (APTA), an organization representing the transit industry for more than 100 years.

Many Metro routes will detour around the marathon on May 3 and 4. 

Rts. 31, 64 and some Metro XTRA Service routes will detour on McMicken from Freeman Ave. to Straight Street. 

Downtown construction starting on April 24 will result in street closures and Metro detours.

More Western Hills commuters were trading their keys for bus passes this March. Three routes serving Metro’s Glenway Crossing Transit Center and park & ride increased ridership more than 20% in March.

Metro provided 8% more rides on the Rt. 71 Kings Island Express last month compared to last March, despite lingering winter weather.

Construction for utility relocation and renewal will close Government Square from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., starting Tuesday, Feb. 25. This construction is expected to take several days.

CINCINNATI — Metro service is operating with no snow detours. 

On Friday, Feb. 7, the Amalgamated Transit Union Local 627 membership voted to approve a labor contract with Metro, effective Feb. 1, 2014 through Oct. 31, 2015.  The current contract expired at midnight on Jan. 31, 2014. 

Metro will operate on a regular schedule on Presidents Day, Monday, Feb. 17. Access service for people with disabilities will also run on a regular schedule.

All service is operating, and all Metro snow detours have been lifted.

Metro has hired Kunjan Dayal, C.P.M., as assistant director of Procurement and Stores, effective Jan. 21, 2014.

The Southwest Ohio Regional Transit Authority (SORTA) has elected Jason Dunn as Chair of the SORTA board for 2014. Ken Reed was elected Vice Chair.

On Tuesday, Jan. 28, Metro service will be operating without XTRA service because Cincinnati Public Schools will be closed.

A new Metro park & ride at the Meijer at 3711 Stone Creek Blvd. in Colerain Township opened on Monday, Jan. 27.

 Metro service is operating, but detours and delays are possible.

As of 2:30 p.m., all Metro service (including XTRA service) is operating.  All snow detours have been lifted, routes on regular schedule.

On Tuesday, Jan. 21, as of 2:40p.m., Metro regular service is operating with one snow detour, no XTRA service.

Metro and Access will operate on a regular schedule on Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Monday, Jan. 20. Metro telephone information is open, but Metro administrative offices and the sales office are closed for the day.
