METRO OPERATOR HONORED WITH CEO STAR AWARD

CINCINNATI – Metro Operator Duane Combs was recognized by Metro’s CEO with a STAR Award for his quick response with assisting a pedestrian struck by a car while on his route.

On Nov.1, while driving on the Rt. 51, Combs, a 13-year Metro Operator, witnessed a woman get struck by a car as she was crossing the street. He quickly called Metro’s dispatch center to request emergency aid and stayed with the woman until help arrived.

For his quick response and for going above and beyond the call of duty, Metro CEO Dwight Ferrell presented Combs with the CEO’s STAR Award during the Southwest Ohio Regional Transit Authority Board meeting on Tuesday, Dec. 13.

“Our employees play an integral role in serving our community each and every day,” said Metro CEO & General Manager Dwight A. Ferrell “We believe outstanding actions such as this deserve recognition.”

The STAR Award for “Service That Attracts Recognition” is a selective award presented by Metro’s CEO and acknowledges and rewards employees who demonstrate exemplary service to Metro and the community.

Metro is a non-profit, tax-funded public service of the Southwest Ohio Regional Transit Authority, providing about 16 million rides per year.
