Metro's Hiring: Attend a Bus Operator Career Day This Summer
CINCINNATI – Ever wondered what it's like to operate a Metro Bus or if you have what it takes to do the job? Take a career test drive during one of three Bus Operator Career Days at Metro this summer.
The Bus Operator Career Day is a convenient one-stop hiring event for anyone interested in learning more about becoming a bus operator. The career days will be held on Saturdays, July 16, Aug. 20 and Sept. 17 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Metro's Queensgate garage,1401 Bank St.
Registered applicants will be able to spend the day "shadowing" an operator to see what a day is like out on the road and learn what skills and training is required to become an operator. Applicants will also have the opportunity to learn about the many benefits and career advancement opportunities within Metro, take the operator hiring assessment and interview on-site.
Operator Rudie Wright, who attended a Bus Operator Career Day last year was originally nervous about the process to become a bus operator, but says attending the session helped to calm any fears she had about her qualifications.
"It all happened at one time and was really informative. We watched a few videos, took a tour of the garage and even had a chance to ride a Metro bus and get our questions answered by a bus driver," Wright said.
Applicants do not need to have a CDL to apply. Metro will assist qualified applicants through the process and even reimburse them for their CDL fees. Metro offers competitive pay and employees receive comprehensive health and dental insurance, free transportation passes for spouse and dependents and retirement benefits.
