CINCINNATI – Cincinnatians have spoken and they plan to do a lot with the money they save by riding Metro!

After receiving nearly 600 contest submissions, Metro officials have selected three finalists who will go into a money machine on the Fountain Square stage for a chance to grab up to $4,500 in cash, provided by Cricket Wireless.

During the event, Metro and Cricket Wireless will be giving out other prizes to attendees on the Square. Hollywood Casino impersonators will add to the festivities.

The contest was designed to remind commuters how much money they can save by riding Metro instead of driving, and it prompted bus riders to describe the many different things they will do with the money saved by riding Metro, including:

  • Taking vacations
  • Paying off college loans
  • Hiring a personal trainer
  • Saving for a wedding
  • Donating it to a church or charity
  • Investing money saved in a business
  • Creating a savings account for children
  • Making home repairs

No public or Metro funds are being used for the Money Grab.

Metro is a non-profit, tax-funded public service of the Southwest Ohio Regional Transit Authority, providing about 17 million rides per year. Learn more about Metro at www.go-metro.com.
