Metro Ridership Up 5% on Rt. 71X Kings Island Express

Metro provided 5% more rides on the Rt. 71 Kings Island Express last month compared to September 2013. In September 2014, the Rt. 71X provided almost 7,220 rides.

More commuters using Kings Island park & ride and express service

CINCINNATI – More commuters traded their keys for express bus rides from Kings Island to downtown this September.

Metro provided 5% more rides on the Rt. 71 Kings Island Express last month compared to September 2013. In September 2014, the Rt. 71X provided almost 7,220 rides. Ridership for the year is up more than 6% on Rt. 71X Kings Island Express, with more than 66,000 rides provided on the route.

In addition, 1,000 rides were provided in September on Rt. 72 Kings Island Job Connection to jobs in Warren County; almost 19,000 rides have been provided on this route during the Kings Island season.

The Kings Island park and ride is located at the south end of the park, just north of Western Row Rd. Parking is free and the fare is $4.25 one-way, directly to or from downtown Cincinnati. A 30-day rolling pass for this route is $170.

Warren County supports the Rt. 71X Kings Island Express with funds from the Federal Transit Administration’s Section 5307 Urbanized Area Formula program. The Rt. 72 Kings Island Job Connection is funded from the federal Job Access Reverse Commute (JARC) program awarded through the Ohio-Kentucky-Indiana Regional Council of Governments.
