Troy Miller is new ATU Local 627 president, effective July 1
CINCINNATI - Mark Bennett, president and business agent for Amalgamated Transit Union (ATU) Local 627, will retire on June 30. The Ross Township, Ohio, resident was ATU 627 president for six years, vice president for three years, and a union representative for nine years. He was a Metro bus operator for 30 years.
ATU Local 627 Secretary and Treasurer Sharon Anderson, of College Hill, Ohio, will also retire on June 30 after serving the ATU for 21 years.
New officers were elected on June 2, and will begin their new roles on July 1:
President: Troy Miller, Liberty Township, Ohio
Vice President: Reco Owens, Price Hill, Ohio
Financial Secretary: Troy Hoskins, Avondale, Ohio
Recording Secretary: April Cruse, Fairfield, Ohio
Miller has been a Metro employee for 17 years and a union board member for nine years.
Approximately 676 Metro bus drivers, mechanics, and operations support employees are members of ATU 627. The Amalgamated Transit Union represents transit workers in the United States and Canada. It has over 190,000 members in 264 local unions spread across 44 states and nine provinces.
