Metro Bus Helps with Evacuation at Silverton Fire
CINCINNATI - Three Metro buses have been sent to assist at a fire scene at a nursing home (6922 Ohio Ave.) in the Silverton/Deer Park area. The buses are being staged near Section Road and Ohio Ave. and will be transporting displaced residents to another nursing home.
Metro has a history of helping during emergencies. Metro provided evacuation services during the 2005 styrene leak, the Queen City Barrel fire, 1997 flood and the 1999 tornado. Metro routinely provides shelter for firefighters and fire victims, including using lift-equipped buses for evacuation of nursing homes.
"Metro is a public service. We are here to benefit the community. If an emergency strikes, we are here to help," said Mike Setzer, Metro's CEO & general manager.
Metro is a non-profit public service of the Southwest Ohio Regional Transit Authority, providing about 22 million rides per year in Greater Cincinnati.
