METRO RECOGNIZES OPERATORS OF THE YEAR FOR 2006
No accidents, excellent service, dependability deserve recognition
CINCINNATI— Imagine driving a 14-ton bus full of passengers every day, through rain, snow, traffic, construction… and doing it almost perfectly every time. That’s what Metro’s two Operators of the Year did last year.
Finneytown resident Mary Hoban is a Queensgate operator who has been with Metro for five years. She has also received the five-year safety award for accident-free driving.
Mike McElroy has been with Metro for 17 years and has received the 10-year safety award for accident-free driving. A Bond Hill operator, McElroy is a resident of Anderson Township.
Hoban and McElroy were chosen from 13 finalists for the Operator of the Year award. To be a finalist, employees must meet the following criteria for the year:
- Safety: No preventable accidents
- Customer service: No customer complaints
- On-time performance: Meet or exceed Metro’s goal
- Dependability: Exceptionally low absenteeism
Metro’s goal is to provide clean, safe, dependable public transit service and the organization has made many changes to focus on this goal, including honoring and recognizing operators who best personify Metro’s values.
Metro is a non-profit public service of the Southwest Ohio Regional Transit Authority, providing almost 22 million rides per year in the Greater Cincinnati community.
